Telford and Wrekin Council for Voluntary Service (CVS) have been providing health and social care projects for over 22 years, directly supporting over 7000 people each year.

As a non for profit charity, the team is committed to supporting vulnerable adults and children. All of their work is based on supporting both adults and children to belong, have aspiration and a sense of achievement.

The Telford and Wrekin CVS provide a number of different services and support groups, in the form of workshops, drop-in sessions and community groups.

One of the most popular services is the All Aged Carers Centre, which aims to provide information and support to all those caring for others. There are over 4200 carers registered in the Telford area, and this invaluable service gives guidance, learning opportunities and respite activities.

The Information, Advice and Support Service (IASS) provide parents, carers and young people with a special educational need (SEND) with advice about education, health and social care. This project enables parents and young people to have a voice and be empowered to make decisions on their life choices.

Telford Autism Hubs provide families with support to aspire and belong to the community. Offering expert knowledge and person-centered conversations the Hubs empower people living with autism to grow. They provide autism training to businesses and volunteer placements, ensure people have a voice and aids the diagnosis process.

Their Community Café in Madeley is a safe space for people to access food, advice and support to live independently. Offering bespoke volunteer placements for people to gain experience, the café volunteers often move on to employment.

The Wellbeing Independence Partnership works closely alongside  the Telford Independent Living Centre. The team support people access individual aids and adaptions, community support and information on living independently.

CEO Debbie Gibbon says, “I’m very proud of the variety of services we can offer to vulnerable people across Telford and Wrekin. The team at the CVS provide invaluable support across our hubs, cafes, workshops and community groups. We’re able to directly help adults and children find the support they need, maintain independence and access expert advice.”

One service user told CVS: “Thank you so much for all of your support. From the moment I picked up the phone and spoke to your team I felt less alone. The group I attended gave me strength to find out more about how to not only care for my son but also have some time just for me. The sessions you run have taught me new skills and I have confidence I never knew I had.”
