COVID-19 Vaccination Walk-in and Pop-Up Clinics

Posted in Our priorities

Walk-in and pop-up vaccinations are available without an appointment for first, second doses, and at some selected sites, boosters:

  • If you are aged between 12 and 15, if you choose not to have your Covid-19 vaccine at school, you can book your vaccination online for an appointment at a vaccination centre or pharmacy. Some of our local vaccination sites also offer walk-ins - details of which sites do, listed below. Parents are asked to accompany children aged 12-15 to clinics to ensure parental consent is sought.
  • If you are aged 16 or 17, you are eligible for a first and second Covid-19 vaccination. The second dose must be at least twelve weeks after your first dose, and you can walk-in without an appointment. Parental consent is not required.
  • If you are aged 18 and over, in an at risk group, a carer or a frontline health and social care worker who has not yet had a vaccine, you can have your first vaccine dose, and if you have had your first dose at least eight weeks ago, you can have your second vaccination without an appointment.
  • If you had your 2nd dose at least 6 months (or a minimium of 182 days) you are now eligible for a Covid-19 Booster. You don't need to have been notified by the NHS to walk-in or book an appointment via the National Booking Service for your Covid-19 booster.
  • For those aged 12 and over who are immunosuppressed a third primary dose should be given at least 8 weeks after the second dose. You will be asked to provide proof of eligibility. Please note, you will still need to receive a booster dose six months (182 days) from the date of your third primary dose.
  • People should have the same type of vaccine for their second dose as for their first dose unless there are exceptional circumstances.
  • If you have tested positive for COVID-19:
    • People aged 18 and over should wait 28 days (1 month) to have a first or second dose of the Covid-19 vaccination
    • People aged 12-17 should wait 12 weeks (3 months) before having a first (or second dose) of the Covid-19 vaccination
  • Women who are pregnant are advised to have the Pfizer (or Moderna) vaccination.

Please be aware Walk-in and Pop-up COVID-19 vaccination clinics may be limited to an allocated number of vaccines. Vaccines will be given on a first come, first served basis. Clinics may close early if all allocated vaccine has been used.

***For those patients requiring a second dose of the Oxford/AstraZeneca vaccine:

A small number of people in the county still may require a 2nd dose of the Oxford/AstraZeneca vaccine. These people need to contact their GP surgery who will arrange for them to receive their 2nd dose of Oxford/AstraZeneca vaccine. Unfortunately, this may mean that the patient may need to travel to another GP surgery/Primary Care Network (but within the county) to receive their vaccine, depending on where the AZ vaccine supply is. Alternatively you can book an appointment via the National Booking System.

Walk-in vaccination clinics available for all those eligible at the following sites.

For a 1st, 2nd or 3rd Covid-19 vaccine walk-in clinics are open. Booking is not necessary, you do not need to be registered with a GP, have proof of address, immigration status, ID or an NHS number. A few personal details may be taken so that we have a record of who has been vaccinated.

For a Covid-19 booster you must be at least six months (a minimum of 182 days) after the second dose. You do not need to bring a letter, text or email from the NHS as proof of eligibility. To find out what date was 182 days ago, and if your 2nd dose was on or before this date, please use the following link: 182 days ago | What was the date 182 days ago? (calculationcalculator.com)

 People eligible include:

  • People aged 40 and over
  • Health and social care workers
  • Unpaid carers aged 16 and over
  • People aged 16 and over with a health condition that puts them at risk of getting seriously ill from Covid-19

Please note clinics aren’t open to everyone – for instance, some are open just for boosters ONLY, and not 1st, 2nd and 3rd doses – so please read the clinic details carefully before you decide to go. Please do not turn up to a walk-in clinic site for a vaccination if a clinic is not advertisied.
